What are the minimum requirements for programming laptop ?

Whether you are a beginner or a professional programmer, you will need a computer to learn how to program. It’s completely up to you whether or not you want to use a laptop or a desktop computer.

Still, having one can make the learning process a lot easier. If you plan on learning to program, you will need to buy a computer. Many people choose to use laptops because they are much faster than desktop computers.

There’s a lot of confusion when it comes to buying a laptop. People are worried about what their chosen laptop must have or what their needs are, but all that should be taken into account when making your purchase.

You will want to make sure you what you’re getting and stay away from products that have high advertised prices but have poor specifications.

As a programmer, you will have to have the latest version of the operating system, you will have to have the OpenGL API, and you will have to have the best processor to be able to run the application you’re working on.

We have listed some of the main minimum requirements for a programming laptop

  • Processor
  • RAM (Random Access Memory)
  • Storage type
  • Graphics card
  • Battery backup
  • Backlit keyboard
  • Screen size
  • Antiglare display

Processor

We would highly recommend you to go with the latest 11th or 12th generation that is it might be intel core i3,i5, or i9, but go with the latest 11 generation laptop or desktop.

RAM (Random Access Memory)

More RAM is better for multitasking, a minimum of  8GB RAM we recommend also please go with upgradeable 16GB or more because in future if it is required you can easily upgrade it. Please do not go with below 8GB RAM it should be a minimum of 8GB or higher. For beginners 8GB RAM is sufficient

Storage type

Storage type: There are 2 types of storage in a Laptop or PC

  1. Hard disk drive (HDD)
  2. Solid-state drive(SSD)
  3. Solid-state hybrid drive (SSHD)

1. Hard disk drive (HDD)

HDD Storage is known for traditional storage memory but still, we are using it. It has moving mechanical parts, for ample storage if you’re particularly looking for a lot of storage go with this HDD storage but if you store more data laptop will become slow in the future.

2. Solid state drive (SSD)

SDD is known for its read and writes speed, In SSD we do not have moving parts it stores DATA on a chip(electrically), and also it has a very low weight compared to HDD but it is not budget-friendly. But we recommend you to go with SSD storage. Even in large storage, it gives you better performance for many years. We recommend you go with the SSD storage type memory

3. Solid-state hybrid drive (SSHD)

It is the combination of both HDD and SSD memories it is the best combination of memory because you can store programming files like OS(operating system) on SSD and all DATA you can store on HDD by doing this laptop gives you fast performance

Graphics card

A graphics (GPU) is responsible for all visual processes which mean the latest graphics card gives you a better viewing experience. There are two types of graphics cards

  1. Integrated graphics cards
  2. Discrete or Dedicated graphics cards

Unless you plan for heavy gaming or editing we highly recommend you to go with an integrated graphics card because an integrated card serves your basic visual needs. If you do not have any clear purpose of usage do not spend much on graphics cards because graphics cards are more expensive.

Battery backup

The battery is also one of the key parts of any laptop because even if we have all good features in our system if battery backup is not good then it is completely no use so it is very important to choose a good battery backup for the laptop. We recommended you choose a battery backup of at least 4-5 hours battery backup, must have 3 Lithium ion cells, 41-watt hours of power also laptop must support fast charging.

Backlit Keyboard

A backlit keyboard type of keyboard has a light underneath the board, it helps you to see all buttons in a low-light environment or a dark room

Screen size

Especially for programming or editing screen size always matters a lot because every programmer will spend most of the time in front of the screen, Larger the screen better the visibility we recommend you to go with a minimum 15-inch screen.

Antiglare screen

An anti-glare screen is it is a type of screen it is very different from a normal LED screen. There is a special coating on the screen that makes a normal screen an antiglare screen, the coating reduces the intensity of light that comes from the screen.

Every programmer minimum he/she will spend 5-8 hours in front of the screen with continuous focus, this will create various problems like headaches, eye problems, etc. The anti-glare display helps us reduce the screen’s direct light, which will help reduce eye strain and more.

  1. Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for newbie blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.|

  5. First off I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Cheers!|

    • Many thanks for the comment, I hope you are doing great.
Before starting my writing I will think about WHY I am writing this post and what is the purpose of the article. Quickly I will start writing then ideas comes gradually, also for me it will take 5-10 minutes to enter into that mindset.
